Zheleznitsa

For the landmark Zheleznitsa tunnel on the Struma motorway in Bulgaria, we delivered a high performance engineering solution for what is now the longest vehicular tunnel in the country. Partnering with JV Global Construction GP Group, we supplied two sets of specialized formwork carriages to enable simultaneous construction of both two kilometer tunnel tubes. Our technical solution included the execution of drainage and emergency niches along with vehicular and pedestrian cross connections. A major innovation for this project was the first use of the PERI InSite system in Bulgaria, allowing our client to monitor concrete strength in real time. This advanced technology, combined with our onsite supervision, ensured efficient 12 meter pouring cycles and superior quality for this critical transport link connecting Sofia to the Greek border.
